lSucculent Crows mp3 If anybody's got to "eat crow", at least let it be moist and tasty! Another one of my big funky compositions, featuring my son, Denny Skerrett, on soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones, and Frank Kincel on drums. I'm playing all the other sequenced synthesizer keyboard parts.

Flora mp3 This came to me as I was playing my acoustic guitar one night in the studio, finding melodies within these chord changes and discovering how to play this new thing I was hearing in my head. Eventually, (not long afterwards), I added the sequenced synth keyboards to fully express the textures I was hearing...an intense feeling of a lush rain forest of green plants, rich soil, peat moss, and oxygen...flora!

Serendipity mp3 Here's one of my jazzy compositions I call "Serendipity" (the gift of finding valuable or agreable things not sought for)...I'm playing 2 acoustic guitar tracks: (a rhythm chord changes track, and a (first take) improvised lead melody track), and Frank Kincel is on drums.

Myst mp3 Another acoustic guitar composition...one night, my friend, Myshkin, of the duo, "Mike West and Myshkin", from New Orleans, played a solo gig at the SideBar, in downtown Lafayette. She had a standard tuned acoustic guitar, a bass ukulele, and a solid body electric guitar, and played various all original songs on each of them, throughout the performance. The electric guitar was tuned to this strange tuning that was very intriguing to me, and at the end of the night, she showed me how it was tuned. So the next morning, I tuned my guitar like this, and was so inspired by the tuning, that I couldn't put my guitar down for about 3 days! This instrumental is what resulted! I'm fingerpicking acoustic guitar, Frank Kincel is playing 3 identical tracks of snare drum played with brushes, and bass drum, Jerry LeJeune is playing 4 tracks of African djembe hand drums and 1 track of rain-stick. Myst is a working title which may change...I think I hear words and a vocal melody coming on this one!

1983 - 1987

The following, is music from some old cassettes that I recently found stashed away in the studio...songs and instrumentals that I wrote and recorded between the years of 1983 to 1987, with various musicians, including drummer,Mike Binet with our band, Zombiebop, drummer Jerry LeJeune and me, another band I had called Eau 1, featuring myself on guitars and vocals and ocassionally keyboards and bass, Sam Whitmire on keyboard and background vocals, Ted Cobina on drums, Tommy Alesi on percussion, and Dicky Landry on saxophones and ocassionally bass clarinet, other musicians, including Lil' Buck Senegal on guitar, Waren Ceasar on vocals, Donnie Picou on guitar, Michael Doucet on fiddle, Joel Sonnier on accordion, John Hart on tenor saxophone, Cleveland Chennier on rubboard, Gilbert Sam on saxophones, Alonzo Johnson on bass, Ray Mouton on bass, Dave Ranson on bass, John Potier on keyboards...(I'm trying to remember everyone, and I hope I'm not forgetting anyone!)...and that doesn't include my long-running band, YaYa, which came a few years later, as these songs continued to grow! I'll be adding some YaYa music as soon as I get a chance.

Due to the fact that these songs were copied from old cassette tapes, and not to mention the fact that they were made into mp3s for this website, the audio quality is somewhat less...but I'm excited about being able to hear my old music again. Eventually I'll re-master all of my old analog archives.

Mike Binet and I, along with some other great musicians, are in the process of rehearsing and waking up many of these old songs, and will be performing them live, beginning in early November, 2008, under our old band name, Zombiebop!.

So, for now....Enjoy!
